Brian Birney is the President and Chief Marketing Officer at The Birney Directive. He is a Marine Corps Veteran and served during Operation Enduring Freedom, during which he was recognized as Marine of the Quarter. Brian has served in numerous roles during his career including Marketing Director-Detroit Media Partnership, Race Director-Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon and Marketing and Communications Director-Crittenton Hospital Medical Center.
Brian serves on the Board for the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce (past President for 2 years), Board of the Orion War Memorial, Board of the Paint Creek Trailways Commission and was elected as Trustee to the Orion Township Board of Trustees. He is a proud graduate of Brother Rice High School and Ferris State University where he earned a B.S. in Public Relations.
Kathy Birney is the Vice President of Operations at The Birney Directive. She has experience in multiple industries in sales and marketing, covering automotive and media. Kathy has over 5 years of experience working in sales for automotive suppliers, Nishikawa Standard Company and Plastech and served as a Marketing Coordinator for 9 & 10 News in northern Michigan. Outside her duties as VP or Operations, she is also a Realtor for Century 21 Town and Country and a Sales Consultant for Thirty One.
Kathy is a proud graduate of Kingsley High School and Ferris State University where she earned a B.S. in Human Resources Management/Personnel Administration.
Mike Birney is the Social Media Manager at The Birney Directive. He is a recent graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy where he was a star lacrosse player. Mike was featured in Lacrosse Magazine in the fall for his shooting as he has been clocked as high as 114 MPH. He began the season with selections to the Preseason All-MAAC Team and Inside Lacrosse’s Face-Off Yearbook All-MAAC Preseason Team. He is also a member of the University of Detroit Mercy Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and the All-MAAC Academic Team.
Mike is a proud graduate of Catholic Central High School and the University of Detroit Mercy.
Kylie Birney is the Graphic Designer at The Birney Directive. She is currently a Senior at the University of Detroit Mercy as well as a star lacrosse player and co-captain. She was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Academic team which is awarded to student-athletes with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better, named to All-Atlantic Sun First Team and was featured in November edition of Lacrosse Magazine. Kylie has earned a spot on the Dean’s Honors List and serves as a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Honors Society, a member of the University of Detroit Mercy Emerging Leaders Program and President of the University of Detroit Mercy Food Committee.
Kylie is a proud graduate of Ladywood High School.
Sean Birney is the Digital Marketing Manager at The Birney Directive. He is currently a Junior at the University of Detroit Mercy as well as as a star lacrosse player. Sean appeared in all 14 games as a rookie, finished sixth on the team with 12 points, fifth with five assists and tied for seventh tallying seven goals. He would go on to earn the MAAC’s Rookie of the Week award. He is also a member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
In high school, Sean was a three-year letter winner in lacrosse as well as a two-year letter winner in football, named All-State, All-Catholic and All American as a senior and was also a finalist for the “Warrior Sports Michigan High School Player of the Year.”
